Chapter ยท 2:40:19-2:43:08

Opening war by intercepting Spanish commerce

When Spain declares war, the response combines caution toward its battle fleet with immediate attacks on two valuable trade routes.

Notes

Spain's declaration of war brings a large nearby Spanish navy back into the operational picture. Instead of risking every ship in an immediate fleet action, part of the British force stays protected while exposed commerce is located. Spanish routes worth roughly six thousand and three thousand are selected as simultaneous interception targets. Economic warfare begins at once while the enemy battle fleet remains under observation.
