Leningrad's armament comprised five 130 mm (5.1-inch) guns, two 76.2 mm guns and two 45 mm anti-aircraft guns. Two quadruple 21-inch torpedo launchers supplied its torpedo battery. The ships could also carry 68-115 mines and 52 depth charges. This outfit supported destroyer leadership, reinforcement of the existing destroyer force and fast minelaying. The gun battery was considered suitable for ships of this size.
