The Cuckoo's designer leads into the Hawker aircraft lineage

Sopwith's history did not end with its First World War fighters and the Cuckoo. After the company's financial and organizational changes, its successor became Hawker Aircraft and later part of Hawker Siddeley. That lineage includes the Hurricane, Typhoon, Tempest, Sea Fury, Hunter, and Harrier. The aside gives the Sopwith-designed Cuckoo a place within a much longer British aircraft-industry story rather than treating it as an isolated wartime design.
