SOE reconnaissance watched German forces and ships

SOE and reconnaissance activity monitored German movements and major warships based in Norway while preparing air attacks.

Notes

The twelve publicly named raids were only the visible part of wartime activity in occupied Norway. Special Operations Executive missions continued alongside other less visible work. Reconnaissance tracked German forces, their movements, and major warships based in Norway while gathering information for air attacks. These activities amounted to hundreds of operations across the theatre. Norway remained an intelligence and surveillance problem as well as a commando target.
