Why a small ship might be HMS Daisy

Flower names suit small ships partly because they deny an enemy a prestigious trophy to boast about.

Notes

A small sloop might be called Daisy because the name matches its modest status. Small constabulary and security vessels are expected to face risks that prestige units should avoid, and their names can limit the symbolic value of a defeat. Flower names stay recognizably modest or comic when translated, making "we beat the Daisy" an unimpressive boast. The repeated use of flower names for small Royal Navy ships follows the same logic.
