Why are the Greek, Egyptian, and Israeli navies less prominent in discussions of small-navy ship design?
Short answerGreece and Egypt design relatively few of their own ships, while Israel's excellent small designs are so requirement-specific that they do not transfer easily to other navies.
NotesGreece and Egypt provide fewer indigenous design examples because they generally acquire ships designed elsewhere. Israel does produce strong small-warship designs, but those vessels are closely tailored to Israeli geography and operational needs. That specificity makes them difficult to present as generic models for another navy. A successful design can therefore be excellent for its owner without being readily transferable.
