Sluys did not guarantee English sea control for the whole war

Later Castilian success and renewed invasion fears qualify any claim that Sluys established permanent English naval domination.

Notes

A major Castilian defeat of the English at sea in 1372 contradicts the idea that Sluys settled naval command for the entire Hundred Years War. England still feared invasion and did not win every later naval battle. Castilian forces were particularly effective opponents at sea. Sluys created a powerful operational advantage without producing permanent or uncontested sea control.
