Six dreadnoughts demonstrate overwhelming overmatch

A hopelessly mismatched cruiser and destroyer force illustrates what concentrated dreadnought firepower does to lighter opponents.

Notes

Six dreadnoughts bring 12- and 13.5-inch guns against a cruiser and destroyer that cannot seriously damage the battle line. Seen from the lighter force's position, the order amounts to sending ships into a fight they cannot survive. The destroyer is especially exposed because its hull was never meant to absorb capital-ship shells. Concentrated firepower and protection settle the action before maneuvering finesse has much chance to matter.
