Choosing one Royal Navy destroyer class for 1942

The Battle class is the ideal single destroyer design if its development can be accelerated into service. Its wartime balance makes it the strongest all-round answer. Under a stricter rule limited to classes realistically available by 1942, the Tribal class is preferred. The answer therefore depends on whether the counterfactual permits early introduction or only historical availability.
