Why a held Singapore could remain supplied

Holding Singapore keeps several Allied supply approaches open while forcing Japan to sustain distant operations before it can push farther south.

Notes

If Japanese forces have not captured Singapore, the base remains relatively easy to resupply in this scenario. Allied ships can approach from several directions behind the base, whereas Japan cannot securely take the islands beyond Singapore without first neutralizing it. The distance from Japan makes sustained operations against the base harder than Allied reinforcement from the Indian Ocean or Pacific networks. Holding Singapore would therefore alter naval logistics, the campaign in Malaya, and the geography of further Japanese expansion.
