Upgrading modules ashore and rearming ships for higher-threat missions

A navy can modernize payloads without rebuilding their hulls and change a low-threat vessel's mission fit within a day.

Notes

Weapon upgrades can be prepared in a warehouse without waiting for a new ship class or rebuilding the existing hull. They still have to fit the standard module, and changing the weaponry involves software work alongside crane handling. A survey or oceanography vessel could return to port and leave as an anti-submarine platform able to defend itself. A mine-warfare or maritime-security vessel entering a higher-threat area could receive a 76 mm gun and surface-to-air missiles. The proposed changes could be made within a day, giving the navy a practical way to adjust a ship's mission and protection.
