Why ship-to-shore connectors matter after sea and air control

Landing craft remain the overlooked link that lets naval and air superiority deliver troops ashore before an opponent can exploit delay.

Notes

Modern Landing Craft Utility and Landing Craft Air Cushion descend from the same need to connect fleets with forces on land. Air and sea power can blockade or bombard an opponent, but without ship-to-shore connectors they cannot promptly place ground power where it is needed. Waiting may reduce immediate risk, yet it also gives an enemy time to adapt. In this view, institutional separation among land, sea, and air warfare helps explain why these enabling craft still receive too little funding and attention.
