Why the Seven Years' War suits selective historical arguments

The Seven Years' War was familiar by name while its details were less widely known, making selective historical examples harder to challenge.

Notes

Many theorists approach the Seven Years' War with an argument already in mind and seek historical illustration rather than an open-ended lesson. By the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries, the war's name was familiar even though many of its actors and details were not. That combination made it harder for an audience to challenge a theorist with awkward context or nuance. A seemingly clean historical example may look persuasive because its complications are less widely known.
