Sea Adventure and cargoes for different markets

Adams's regional voyages combined silk for Europe with materials wanted in Japan.

Notes

Adams eventually had permission to visit England but did not go. He subsequently undertook further trading voyages. Sea Adventure was a vessel of about 200 tons, although whether he bought or built it remains disputed. Its company included 120 Japanese crew and people described as Chinese, Italian, Spanish and English. Voyages toward Siam and around the East China Sea sought goods for different customers. Silk served European markets, while deerskins and ray skins supplied Japanese demand connected with sword production. These exchanges generated business within Asia as well as cargo for England.
