Question

Which science-fiction ship names would suit vessels in real national navies?

Short answer

The suggestions are Forward Unto Dawn, including HMS Forward Unto Dawn for an SSBN, and Post-Dated Loan Check.

Notes

Forward Unto Dawn is suggested as a name for a real warship, with HMS Forward Unto Dawn proposed for the Royal Navy. Assigning it to a ballistic-missile submarine prompts a joke about the grim meaning of the name. Post-Dated Loan Check is another suggestion, followed by a recollection of Schlock Mercenary. These are personal choices from fictional ships whose names were not themselves borrowed from real vessels.
