Schnellboots brought greater size and firepower to the torpedo-boat fight

The German Schnellboot combined high speed, reload torpedoes, and multiple cannon in a hull roughly twice the displacement of a Vosper boat.

Notes

The Allies called German Schnellboots E-boats. They displaced roughly 70 to 100 tons and could make about 43.8 knots. They carried two torpedoes ready in their tubes, two reloads, several 20 mm cannon, and a 37 mm weapon. That combination gave them more sustained torpedo and gun power than the much lighter Vosper boats, even though the practical speed gap could be smaller than official figures imply. The Royal Navy answered them with larger, gun-heavy craft designed for the hunt.
