Saxifrage survives as HMS President

Saxifrage's survival into RNVR service as HMS President traces the First World War sloop type into a much later training role.

Notes

Saxifrage survived long after her Q-ship service. Renamed HMS President in 1922, she was moored as the drill ship for the London Royal Naval Volunteer Reserve (RNVR) unit. She remained in that role until 1988. Restoration under the name Saxifrage was underway at the time of the 2020 recording.
