A viable ABDA naval force in Southeast Asia

Force Z surviving and Saratoga joining the theater could make ABDA strong enough to delay Japan and redirect the carrier force used for Operation C.

Question

Was there any way to save ABDA Command as an effective naval force?

Short answer

Yes; the survival of Force Z and the arrival of Saratoga could create a coalition fleet strong enough to force a major Japanese response.

Notes

ABDA's prospects change if Prince of Wales and Repulse survive and Saratoga reaches the combined command. Reinforced by additional British and American carriers, the force becomes dangerous enough that Japan must concentrate against it rather than continue on the historical timetable. The carrier force used for the Indian Ocean raid might instead be committed to destroying ABDA. That produces a major fleet battle rather than the rapid collapse of an outmatched coalition.
