Dominion carriers as a distributed naval network

Shared Royal Navy expertise and facilities made Dominion carrier forces more viable while giving Britain forward naval presence without sending a fleet carrier everywhere.

Notes

Australian and Canadian fleets retained close operational and industrial connections with the Royal Navy after the Second World War. Shared information and access to British industrial facilities reduced the burden of sustaining sophisticated carrier forces. In return, Britain gained allies with genuine regional and sometimes global reach. The relationship multiplied allied capacity because the Royal Navy did not have to supply every aviation capability itself.
