San Salvador is sometimes counted as a second English capture from the Armada, but her Spanish crew abandoned her after a destructive fire. English sailors later found about fifty burned bodies aboard, and Golden Hind towed the drifting hull to Weymouth. The heavily armed wreck was worth recovering even though no boarding action had won it from a defending crew. Rosario was therefore the only Spanish ship physically captured in battle, while San Salvador is more precisely described as a salvage recovery.
