The Landing Craft Tank Rocket turned a transport hull into an intense area-bombardment platform. An archival comparison dismissed the LCT Mark II as able to carry only 792 projectors beside larger Mark III arrangements proposed for 1,080 and ultimately fitted with about 936. One salvo could deliver roughly seventeen tons of explosive across a strip about 750 by 106 yards in around three seconds. Five-inch Sea Mattress rockets formed one load, though other rocket types also appeared. The craft concentrated industrial-scale firepower against shore defences in the seconds before troops landed.
