A ribauldequin combined multiple barrels on one gun carriage, possibly twenty or more. Its barrels could fire together or in quick succession. Reloading the whole weapon took so long that the initial burst did not produce sustained fire. These weapons saw occasional use but were not highly regarded, while bombards remained central to artillery development.
