Chapter · 54:41-57:15

Revenge in the Greco-Turkish crises

Interwar deployments took Revenge from Greek landings to the Dardanelles as Britain used battleships for presence and crisis response.

Notes

Revenge supported British policy amid the Greco-Turkish War and Russian Civil War, met the Greek fleet, and assisted Greek landings. She returned to the region during the 1922 Chanak crisis and the destruction of Smyrna, illustrating how a battle-line ship could serve diplomacy and expeditionary operations without fighting another fleet action. Returning the squadron to Atlantic and home waters afterward reduced the cost and delay of refit, repair, and supply. It also improved crew welfare because sailors could receive short family leave from British ports, showing that basing decisions joined operational, financial, and personnel concerns.
