A reserve tank force could preserve the capability while reducing the active commitment. Britain already has reservist tank crews, so some of the trained personnel are in place. Simulator training could help those reservists retain their skills. Keeping the vehicles while moving more of the force into reserve would preserve tank numbers. The retained vehicles and trained crews would keep the capability available when needed.
