Repair resilience matters as much as carrier numbers

A force's apparent size can conceal a single-point repair failure, especially when a major warship has only one realistic dock option.

Notes

Modern Royal Navy carrier availability depends on resilient maintenance capacity as well as the two hulls. A ladder of readiness runs from possessing ships on paper to sustaining a surge while planned maintenance and trained personnel continue to function. With only one realistic carrier dry-dock option, an accident or an occupied facility can sharply reduce usable capability. The risk is especially acute during tension short of war, when the government may lack both emergency powers and funding to displace commercial work immediately.
