Renown's torpedo sting and Harvey armour scheme

Five 18-inch torpedo tubes gave the fast battleship a stern chase weapon, while Harvey armour protected her belt, decks, barbettes, turrets, conning tower, and bulkheads.

Notes

Beyond her 12-pounders, Renown carried eight quick-firing 3-pounder Hotchkiss guns and five 18-inch torpedo tubes. One tube fired from the stern above water, while two submerged tubes on each broadside supplied the remainder. The stern tube threatened any pursuer that managed to close on a ship already faster than many contemporaries. Her Harvey armour included a six-to-eight-inch belt, two-to-three-inch decks, 10-inch barbettes, three-to-six-inch turrets, a three-to-nine-inch conning tower, and six-to-ten-inch bulkheads. Those figures give a compact map of how protection was distributed around the ship instead of reducing the scheme to one headline thickness.
