Could the convoy have changed Singapore's defence?

The diverted convoy probably could not save the Philippines, but its aircraft, guns, and experienced personnel might have strengthened Singapore.

Notes

The convoy counterfactual stays bounded: it does not claim that the reinforcements would reverse the Pacific campaign. The added fighters, anti-aircraft weapons, field artillery, and experienced officers could have multiplied Singapore's defensive strength and bought time for Commonwealth forces to organize. The destination of a logistics package can matter as much as the weapons themselves. In the war-game example, the artillery and air power strengthen the defence of the Singapore Strait without removing the wider operational problems facing the garrison.
