Arethusas are praised as attractive, balanced small British cruisers, likened in spirit to enlarged Tribal destroyers. The preference is to continue building them rather than shift to the Dido class, making this a force-design judgement as well as an aesthetic one. Wichita remains the overall favourite because of the design lineage and balance it represents in the US treaty-cruiser story. A personal favourite need not be judged the universally most useful type.

The stream separates affection for the compact Arethusa class from admiration for Wichita as the most satisfying treaty-era cruiser design.
