Why a fleet cannot ignore its rear arc

The Imperial Fleet's inability to fire astern becomes a tactical critique of blind arcs, maneuver, and an opponent's freedom to attack from behind.

Notes

An inability to fire astern is a tactical weakness rather than a cosmetic quirk. A head-on game setup makes the blind arc harder to exploit, but it does not remove the weakness. An experiment moved one fleet toward the edge of the board, pushed the opponent along it, and tried to come around from behind. The attack failed to achieve everything intended, yet it worked far better than such an obvious maneuver should have. The example shows why a fleet design cannot assume that every enemy will remain ahead.
