Every belligerent can be expected to shape information for wartime purposes. Comparing the propaganda issued by both sides and locating a point between their extreme claims offers a first approximation. That midpoint is not automatically the truth, because one regime or source may have stronger reasons to distort particular facts. The estimate should therefore be adjusted according to the likely reliability of the competing systems. Claims need to be triangulated without turning a rough midpoint into false precision.

Opposing wartime claims can bracket reality, but any midpoint remains an approximation that should be weighted by the credibility of each regime.
