Ranger achieved a very large nominal air group on a modest displacement, while Soryu combined high power with a strong mixed air group. Yorktown and Enterprise paired about ninety aircraft with more than thirty knots and a hull sized for fleet operations. Their specifications reveal different uses of treaty displacement rather than a single universal answer. Together they show how the experimental lessons of the 1920s became coherent national carrier designs.
