The Ranger works best high and outside enemy gun range, making broad, lazy turns while it launches missiles. Its double missile load is useful against major Cylon units, but the hull is too lightly protected for close action. Once the missiles are exhausted, it can move in after Manticores and other ships have reduced the dangerous targets. Despite its cruiser label, the Ranger functions as a standoff contributor sheltered by tougher units.
