Was the radar system directly linked to gun control?
Short answerThere was no fully automatic servo link. Radar information was integrated into firing solutions, allowing almost all the American fire to be directed by radar.
NotesRadar was not yet connected to gun control through a fully automatic servo link. Radar information fed firing tables and the wider fire-control process, building on earlier combat experience. The American force could direct almost all its fire by radar. This reduced its dependence on visual targeting without making the guns automatically follow a radar contact.
