Making room for radar on prewar destroyers

Some destroyers received wiring for future radar sets and then had to have it stripped out when the equipment arrived.

Notes

The destroyers carried ASDIC and received radar as sets became available. Anticipating that equipment, builders installed supporting facilities and wiring on some ships. Some of the wiring proved inadequate and had to be removed when the radar arrived. Leaving accessible routes for later cabling would have allowed the installation to match the eventual equipment. Saltwater deterioration was a further risk of fitting cables long before they were needed.
