Queen Elizabeth carriers lacked their planned LHD partners

A four-flight-deck concept became two carriers when the complementary landing helicopter docks were not acquired.

Notes

The two Queen Elizabeth-class carriers were meant to work with at least two landing helicopter docks. Together the four flight decks would have operated as a set and divided complementary duties. The LHDs were not acquired, leaving the Royal Navy with only the two carriers from the larger concept. Sharing functions across ship types works only when every required platform is procured.
