Queen Bee radio-control equipment could be boosted and mounted in aircraft, ships, or land stations, but transmitter reach was only part of the problem. An operator still had to see and identify the intended target, so the aircraft's 262-nautical-mile fuel range did not equal a practical attack radius. A companion control aircraft might have had to approach within about five miles of the target and remain there to guide the drone. Even with that limitation, a ship-launched remote-control system offered a development path toward early missiles and broader sea-defence applications.

Visual targeting limited the Queen Bee's useful strike range
The aircraft's fuel range did not equal its practical attack radius because a control platform still had to find and visually follow the target.
