Would Royal Navy ships operating in the Baltic have used Russian bases?
Short answerProbably not; Copenhagen was a more plausible secure and supportable base if Britain forced access to the Baltic.
NotesA Royal Navy force was unlikely to depend on Russian Baltic bases. Copenhagen and secured Danish defenses offered a more practical operating point near the Baltic entrance. Such a plan would also require troops to protect Denmark against German attack and a supply system able to sustain the fleet. Entering an enclosed sea depended on controlling and supporting a defensible base.
