Preserving point-defence missiles and the return of guns

Guns against drones can preserve point-defence missiles for fast weapons passing the outer layers.

Notes

Slower cruise missiles are assigned to area-defence systems in this proposed division of targets. Point-defence missiles remain a reserve for hypersonic weapons and other dangerous threats getting through to close range. Spending that reserve on drones can create another weakness. Guns return as a way to support the missile layers against those additional targets.
