Archival photographs remain useful only when each image can be traced to its original file. The method described here records the entire file, its cover, and the yellow request ticket, then stores the images under the relevant ADM reference and file name. That arrangement allows quotations and claims to be checked against the exact record during drafting. Before publication, the planned final check is a return to The National Archives to compare the references with the physical files.
