A slower path to a 14-inch Dreadnought

An alternate-history design asks how a less urgent Dreadnought programme might have used 14-inch guns and different turret arrangements.

Question

What might Dreadnought have looked like without the rush caused by Tsushima?

Short answer

Britain might have waited for 14-inch guns and a superfiring layout that improved end-on fire, while retaining twin turrets.

Notes

Without the urgency created by Tsushima, Britain might have waited for 14-inch guns instead of freezing Dreadnought's design so quickly. The preferred counterfactual uses six twin turrets, with superfiring pairs forward and aft plus two wing turrets. That arrangement could put eight guns directly ahead or astern and perhaps ten into a broadside. The proposal is a design thought experiment about what Fisher might have valued, without claiming that the Royal Navy would inevitably have selected it.
