Portchester Castle paid off in 1947 and remained available for filming before scrapping began in May 1958. She portrayed Saltash Castle in The Cruel Sea and also appeared in The Man Who Never Was and The Navy Lark. Filming before scrapping explains how a ship could appear in a later release. On screen, her F362 marking is contrasted with her wartime K362 number. The letter change is used to explain how the corvette could pass as a frigate.
