Poland rebuilt part of its submarine force with Allied vessels, including an American S-class boat transferred through Britain and the U-class ORP Dzik. The S-class ORP Jastrzab was lost to friendly fire after its double transfer through Lend-Lease. Dzik sank eighteen ships, supported Mediterranean operations including Operation Husky, survived heavy depth-charge attacks, and later served Denmark. Experienced displaced crews could turn transferred hulls into effective combat assets, although coalition warfare brought hazards of its own.
