Placing line-of-sight weapons before self-orienting missiles

A proposed design sequence places weapons that need a direct line of sight first, then fits missiles that can change direction after an unobstructed launch.

Notes

The proposed approach begins by plotting the shipboard positions of systems that depend on line of sight. Weapons able to orient themselves after launch come next in the placement process. Their launch positions still need an unobstructed path for the missile to leave the ship. The reason for giving them later priority is that the missile can then turn towards its target, allowing more freedom in launcher orientation than a weapon that needs a direct firing line.
