When PL.7 problems created a gap, floats were removed from PL.14-type aircraft and conventional landing gear fitted for carrier use. Four then served aboard Béarn to provide an anti-submarine capability. Their removal in 1937 reflected competing demand for useful machines rather than simple rejection of the design. Stored PL.15s likewise returned in September 1939 for anti-submarine patrols along the Atlantic coast and other duties. The repeated conversions and reactivations show the operational value of a dependable airframe that could move between seaplane, carrier, and shore-based roles.
