Phillips would probably choose Repulse for space and his instinct to command from the surface striking ship, despite relying on Indomitable for radar and wider communications. That split would complicate command because the admiral's preferred flagship would not hold the task force's best information systems. A damaged Prince of Wales might also prompt the freshly refitted Renown to deploy. Renown, Repulse, and Indomitable would form a fast force, though not one suited to fighting four Kongō-class ships unsupported.
