Peregrines as an integrated fleet air group

Carrier-based Peregrines strike targets, protect the fleet, conduct reconnaissance, break up attacks, and cycle through rearmament and repair.

Notes

The stream distinguishes a small craft's hit-and-run success from the much harder demands of fleet battle. Carrier fighters form an initial striking force, while the carrier serves as a forward repair and replenishment point for aircraft operating around the battle line. British strike aircraft flying from the United Kingdom during the Libya intervention illustrate the support problem created when the carrier gap denied them a nearer mobile base. Peregrines can intercept attacks, scout, and strike, forcing an enemy to divide its attention between them and the larger ships. Protecting the fleet may still require painful fighter losses.
