The ship was transferred before completion to Poland as ORP Ślązak, then returned to Britain in 1946 and transferred to India as INS Godavari in 1953. Her record after commissioning in 1942 included 32 patrols and 104 convoys. During the Dieppe operation she went close inshore under heavy fire to recover 85 soldiers. At D-Day she supported the Sword Beach landings and led minesweepers clearing the route, while her wartime record included at least five aircraft shot down. Her career shows the Hunt design serving more than one Allied navy and extending well beyond the war.
