ORP Dragon's Polish service and Normandy loss

The Polish Navy operated Dragon on Home Fleet, convoy, and Normandy duties before damage off the invasion coast turned her into another Mulberry blockship.

Notes

The Polish Navy kept the name Dragon when it took over the cruiser in January 1943. She served around the Home Fleet, escorted convoys, and prepared for Normandy with Force B. A small German attack unit damaged her beyond repair off Normandy, and she was declared a total loss in July. The wreck was scuttled as part of the invasion harbour defences. Dragon and her Scotts-built sister Durban ended as blockships in the same Mulberry system.
