The Orfey subclass carried nine torpedo launchers in three triple mountings, compared with Novik's eight tubes in four twin mountings. The ships retained 4-inch guns and machine guns, with capacity for 18 naval mines. Two steam turbines drove two shafts and gave a speed of about 31 knots. This combination made the subclass useful for destroyer duties.
