Invasion of England 1940 as an introduction to Sea Lion

Peter Schenk's illustrated study provides an accessible starting point for German invasion plans, improvised transport, ramps, artillery movement, and the gap between concepts and beach reality.

Notes

Peter Schenk's Invasion of England 1940 was a formative book in the development of this analysis of Operation Sea Lion. Newer works add evidence, but this volume remains an accessible route into German planning. Its photographs and diagrams show schemes for moving tanks, field guns, antiaircraft weapons, and other vehicles across the Channel. Some proposals even assumed that unloading infrastructure could be assembled after landing under fire. The book makes the material demands and improvisations of the invasion plan visible before the detailed barge engineering is examined.
